In this article from the Florida Gainsville Sun, it is revealed that Florida is the #1 nation in the US for tornadoes. That might come as a surprise since Florida is thought to be known more for hurricanes when it comes to extreme weather. A Weather Channel study conducted by Greg Forbes, one of the nation’s leading tornado experts, used the raw number of tornadoes to hit each state per year per 10,000 square miles in each state. Forbes concluded, “Florida has the most thunderstorms per square mile and some of those storms produce tornadoes.” This makes Florida the thunderstorm capital of the nation.

The good news is that most tornadoes in Florida are weaker versions, EF-0, and EF-1, as opposed to E-4, and E-5 tornadoes that are typical of the Midwest. However, one major problem for Florida residents is that we never know when a tornado may strike without warning, as they are usually wrapped inside a typical thunderstorm.

When Florida Tornadoes Strike You Need a Public Adjuster

February is the considered the Deadly Season in Florida, due to the jet stream that arrives with the coming spring warmup. This creates the perfect situation for severe thunderstorms, which often carry tornadoes. Oftentimes, tornadoes bring hail with them. So even if the tornado in Florida is a weak one, the very least that will could happen is your home or business will be damaged by lightning, hail or strong winds. However, there are all kinds of damages that tornadoes can wreak, such as damage to your car, personal injury if you are out in the storm, flooding, or even cause a fire at your residence or business property.

All of these are reasons that when a Florida tornado strikes, you need a public adjuster. Experiencing extreme weather like tornadoes is stressful enough. The stress is compounded when you experience a loss due to a tornado. The last thing anyone wants to deal with after suffering this type of loss is filing an insurance claim, which can sometimes, if not handled properly, become almost as catastrophic as the tornado itself. Your insurance company employs an adjuster to work on its behalf.
